Hi all

Does this distro have a program package manager to deal with ease of program installations?

Hi Les & Welcome

Portage as a package manager is pretty powerful.
So eventually or sooner you will find yourself on the command line.
Meanwhile…
There are GUI portage managers Porthole or Portato… I occasionally use Porthole.
Of course you must install either from the Command line interface.(CLI)

then Sync
eix-sync

then search
calculate ~ # emerge --search porthole portato

maybe read about it first
calculate ~ # emerge --searchdesc porthole

then choose one or both and install
calculate ~ # emerge porthole

Basically, it is an Easy to use Implementation of WINE.
WINE of course is binary to run many Windows applications on your Linux Desktop.
Such as Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.
