[Solved] Chromebook keyboard layout

Hello,

I’m using the Cinnamon Desktop version of Calculate Linux and am trying to set the keyboard layout as US Chromebook. In the Keyboard settings, I only found one Chromebook layout and it was for the 3i format, not QWERTY. I found instructions on Gentoo’s site here ‘Chromebook - Gentoo wiki’ which didn’t work. When I edited keyboard.conf to what’s in that wiki, the system booted to just a command prompt so I had to go back to what I had for just a standard US keyboard. I’m hoping someone can help me with instructions on how to get a Chromebook keyboard layout into my Cinnamon desktop so I can use the keyboard function keys for the things such as brightness, volume up/down, etc.

Thanks,

Checking back in to ask if anyone has an idea where I can get a chromebook keyboard layout? In Cinnamon settings, there is only one chromebook layout but that says English (3i, Chromebook) and that one isn’t QWERTY. Where are these layouts located? I looked in X11 and there is no Chromebook layout there and following Gentoo’s instructions did not work for Calculate. Any help is much appreciated!

P.S. I tried the following but it didn’t work because it seems to be for systemd. Any thoughts on how to get a US Chromebook keyboard layout into Calculate Linux?

I figured it out. I just needed to create a new file called 10-keyboard.conf and paste the contents into the new file exactly as it was on the gentoo wiki.

I was trying to edit keyboard.conf.

Cheers!
