Root password and certificate generation

Hello all. Nice to be here and thank you for the opportunity to discover a new linux platform. I installed Calculate CLDX on a PC I had and the install went well. During installation, there was a field where I could choose a root password, and also a field, after, to assign a guest password. I used my go-to password for root, and changed guest to a normal user name I use and assigned another of my popular passwords for that user (in my case “TECH22”). When I attempt to use Calculate Update I am faced with having no signed certificate. I researched that and I have generated a request ID:2. When I use the command to sign that ID, the password I assigned to root during install isn’t accepted, and using ‘root’ isn’t either. I’m not even sure I’m going through the certificate process correctly. My main concern is the root password. Would I be best served re-installing at this point since I really have nothing on the machine yet? And is it common to set the root password during install? I installed Calculate Cinnamon 6.18.9 Xfce. One other issue is, when I change input to use another PC and then go back to the calculate machine, even for just a few minutes, I return to a black screen and I have to reset to get graphics.
