KDE 4.7 is available

KDE 4.7.1 is now available for install in our binary profile.

Beware though: the main thing that will need your attention is your mail archive in Kmail. We recommend that you backup the .kde4/share/apps/kmail/ and .kde4/share/config/kmailrc configuration files before you start updating, unless you are using the IMAP protocol (it comes by default in CDS). In this latter case, you can adjust your settings without resorting to KDE converter, since they are now stored in Aconadi. To start the setup, launch Akonadi Console by choosing “Development >> Akonadi Console” from the menu. Then click on “Add” button and select “IMAP E-mail Server”.

The updated KDE 4.7 requires a running Nepomuk, the metadata manager. This is the only setting done by Calculate templates to automatically convert KDE profiles from 4.6 to 4.7. If you have a customized profile, you can add Nepomuk to autostart from the menu, with the “System settings” tool: just click on “Desktop search” and flag Nepomuk.

The new KDE version will be included in CLD Stage build 20110920.
